Kari Sandell, LMFT, LPCC

Hi, I'm Kari. I take a client-centered approach to therapy with an emphasis on helping individuals build awareness and self-support. I often get feedback that clients experience me as warm, engaged, non-judgmental, and down-to-earth.

I graduated from U.C. Berkeley with a bachelor's degree in Neuropsychology and from the California Institute of Integral Studies with a master's degree in Counseling Psychology. I'm fascinated by the connections between neurology and lived experience, and I incorporate these considerations into my work.

I'm also passionate about approaching therapy from a humanistic and Gestalt perspective. This means that I believe in the inherent wisdom of each individual and seek to help clients explore their subjective experience and cultivate resourcing in the present moment.

WHY SEEK THERAPY?

There are many reasons to seek therapy, and while mental health struggles and crisis are certainly on the list, these aren't the only reasons to work with a therapist. Perhaps you need support with a big life change, need help moving through grief, want to improve your relationship with yourself, have a desire to stop repeating unserving patterns, or simply want to step into the most empowered and healthy version of yourself. These are all great reasons to reach out, and I'd love to hear from you.

POTENTIAL BENEFITS OF THERAPY

The benefits of therapy can range from subtle shifts to groundbreaking transformations. I've helped clients learn to manage anxiety, overcome depression, improve their relationships with their bodies and food, develop self-compassion, feel more gratitude, improve their interpersonal relationships, learn to set healthy boundaries, move into more balance with substances, develop healthy coping skills, improve their communication skills, sleep better, process and heal trauma, identify and move toward their purpose, and experience empowerment. Reach out to discuss your goals and we can explore if we'd be a good match.
